THAMIZHUM UZHAVUM 2024 RULES

COMPETITION AND CULTURAL PARTICIPATION FEE

  1. COMPETITION:
    1. Competitions are FREE for Members
    2. Non-members - $ 10 once and can compete in any number of competition
  2. CULTURAL PROGRAM:
    1. Kummi is FREE for everyone.
    2. Members for each Program : $10
    3. Non members for each Program : $15
    4. For Jodi porutham : Members $10 per pair.
    5. Non-members $15 per pair.

GENERAL RULES FOR ALL EVENTS 

  1. Participants can participate in a maximum of 2 cultural programs
  2. Registration is required to participate in all the events.
  3. Registration is based on first come first serve basis only. 
  4. All performances are preferred to be in TAMIL. 
  5. No criticism of any language, race, caste or religion, politics and no abusive language.
  6. Trophies will be awarded for all who perform on the event day and certificates will be awarded to choreographers.
  7. All Registration closes by MARCH 5th, 2024.
  8. Audio(s) must be submitted before March 8th 2024

KUMMI

  1. Kummi is organized by the RITS team.
  2. All Ladies are welcome to participate in it.
  3. There will be practise sessions.
  4. All Ladies should wear Saree compulsorily during the Kummi.
  5. Steps will be simple. no need for dancing experience.

DANCE

  1. Age Limit: Kids and Adults
  2. DANCES are preferred to be in TAMIL.
  3. No SOLO dance is allowed
  4. 3 or More participants can perform for a duration of time (max. 5) minutes.
  5. Classical performance given an exception. Solo Classical performance duration of maximum 3 to 3.30 mins
  6. Classical performance given an exception. 2 or more participants can perform for a duration of time (max. 7) minutes.
  7. One Choreographer can give a maximum of two entries.

DRAMA

  1. Age Limit: Kids and Adults
  2. Drama Should be in TAMIL
  3. The total duration of the drama should NOT exceed 10 minutes.
  4. The number of participants must be more than 5 and less than 15.
  5. Drama groups should bring and take all the properties needed for their performance.

KIDS INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Music Instrumentals:

  1. Age Limit: 8-18 years
  2. Should be based on TAMIL songs only.
  3. 1 or 2 participants can perform for the duration of (min 1 - max 3) mins.
  4. More than 2 participants can perform for the duration of (min 2 - max 6) mins.

KARAOKE

  1. Age Limit: adults
  2. Should be based on TAMIL songs only, can sign both classical and non-classical light music.
  3. 1 or 2 participants can perform for the duration of (max 5) mins.
  4. More than 2 participants can perform for the duration of (max 7 ) mins.

KIDS FANCY DRESS

  1. Age Limit: Kids
  2. Participants are encouraged to wear costumes representing who they are replicating to make it interesting.
  3. Duration of the program should NOT exceed 2 minutes.
  4. Participants can give a short crisp speech or deliver a dialogue, recite a poem. It is Preferred to be in TAMIL.
  5. Costumes and props should not cause harm to kids.
  6. Participants should be on time for the program.
  7. Parents can help toddlers and preschool kids

KIDS PATTIMANDRAM

  1. Age Limit: Kids age(9 to 16yrs)
  2. Talk should only be in Tamil
  3. Two Teams with 4 participants each. 4 minutes for each participant.
  4. Team Lead Summary should not exceed 3 minutes
  5. Registration required and it should be clearly specified on which side of the topic the participant is willing to debate.
  6. Kids can have a reference paper like a short note.
  7. Kids need to talk in Pattimandram it should not be like reading.
  8. Zoom meetings will be conducted by our team to guide and give some ideas.
  9. Whoever registers n pays first will get the opportunity.

JODI PORUTHAM

  1. Age Limit:  Adults Couple
  2. Each person from the pair will be questioned individually.
  3. No verbal and eye communication between competition pairs.
  4. Each question should be answered within the time limit which will be advised by the team.
  5. Best jodi will be selected based on most questions answered by the pair.
  6. Participant pair will be selected based on first come first serve basis.

RANGOLI COMPETITION RULES

  1. Age Limit: kids above 15 and  Adults
  2. The Participants should do the rangoli in-person in the given  2 hrs time.
  3. The participants can bring a maximum of two people to help. The persons helping will get only certificates. 
  4. The materials other than color powders any other materials can be used for rangoli. It should be bought by the participants.
  5. Rangoli should be done on the floor in the traditional manner.
  6. The participant should bring the base layer(chart, cloth, cardboard or table cloth) on which they can put their rangoli.
  7. The base layer should be min of 22in * 28 in(single chart size) max 44 in * 56 in
  8. Judgement will be done on creativity, usage of colors, complexity and cleanup after.
  9. The judge's decision is final.

COOKING COMPETITION RULES

  1. Age Limit:  Adults
  2. The participants should cook from home and bring it to the venue. It should be plated for 3 judges.
  3. The participants should bring all the required items
  4. The participants can present the food however they wish.
  5. Topic:
    1. Mens cooking: Thalappakatti biriyani
    2. Women's cooking: Savory items. The food should be presented in the TRICOLOR Indian flag theme. Judging will be done based on taste and presentation of Tri color. Extra point for bringing out the color naturally.
  6. The judge's decision is final.

ARM WRESTLING RULES

  1. Table Setup:
    * The arm wrestling table will be set on a level playing surface.
  2. Starting Position:
    • Participants stand facing each other on either side of the table.
    • Elbows must be placed firmly on the table.
    • Hands must be gripping each other, with thumbs visible to the referee.
  3. Grips:
    • The grip should be "palms down”.
  4. Referee's Commands:
    • The referee gives commands to start and stop the match.
    • Commands typically include "Take a grip," "Ready," and "Go."
    • The referees desitions are final
  5. Starting the Match:
    • Once the participants have taken their grip and are ready, the referee starts the match with the command "Go."
    • Movement or lifting of the elbow before the "Go" command can result in a foul.
  6. Fouls:
    • Common fouls include lifting the elbow off the pad, false starts, intentionally slipping the grip, or using the non-wrestling arm for leverage.
    • Accumulating fouls can result in a loss.
  7. Winning:
    1. The match is won when one participant's hand, wrist, and forearm are forced down to the table.
  8. Weight Classes:
    1. Arm wrestling events have weight classes to ensure fair competition.

HAIRSTYLING COMPETITION RULES

  1. Ladies above 18 years are eligible
  2. ⁠Time given will be 90 minutes
  3. ⁠Participants have to style the hair of their female partner according to the theme "SEASONS" using their creativity and skills
  4. ⁠Participants are in charge of selecting their partner
  5. ⁠You may use straighteners, curlers, extensions or colouring
  6. ⁠You have to bring all necessary materials with you
  7. ⁠Please inform us beforehand if you require plug point
  8. ⁠Participants will be judged based on creativity, neatness, explanation relevant to the theme and completion
  9. ⁠Only the hairstyle will be judged, the costume worn will not be judged
  10. Judges’ decision is final
